Whether you're a grandparent or a grandchild, it's worthy to know that National Grandparents' Day in the United States falls on Sept. 11 this year. Though most people will no doubt be reminded of what transpired on that date in 2001, keep in mind the other occasion marked for those in their golden years. What we can do? The Nat'l Grandparents Day site contains suggested activities, one of which is storytelling time -- which is always interesting because knowing about "the good ol' days" from someone who actually experienced them is much more interesting than getting the lowdown from a history book. And grandparents have loads to tell about that!

Hmm.. that's a good thought. Maybe it's time to "lessen" the 9/11 memories... :)
I remember my lolo - I used to talk to him for hours after our sari-sari store closes. We'll stay sa porch (yung semento na upuan sa harap ng tindahan - lol) then talk and talk. The most remembered quote from him is "you have to know this, as early as possible, you have the habit of not learning a lesson until you commit a mistake". Hehee, lolo, I still have that habit up to now.. but I know you're happy wherever you are.. :)

Our grandparents -- and old people in general -- can really be a "goldmine of wisdom" as I saw it written somewhere. Thanks for sharing that brief conversation with your lolo =)
